If I wnat to make a random kinda banner I use Photoshop.

If It needs animating: Flash
If its an object or somthing: Illustrator...

Thay are all good and bad at different things. I guess it's mostly personal pref. :)

cannonball can you make me a dark banner for motorsport madness banner and will give you 100 points if i like it and if i dont i'll still give 20 points.

i think trading points for things with a member is a very good idea.

I only use PS 7 and occasionally CS, i used to use PSP6 and PSP8 and so far i think PS is the best so far. PSP is good but its no PS f u get me lol Flash is great but for graphics not really more for Animation.

I use CorelDraw and Macromedia Freehand for Cartographic and GIS layouts (Vector stuff).
Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Fireworks for raster. However, every time I open up Fireworks I like it more and more. Despite the easy to use tools, it's a powerful program that is only limited by the user (for the most part).

I kinda like good ole paintbrush. It's good for simple stuff but when it putts on down the road at five an hour the bumper sticker says --- My other graphics program is Ulead Gif Animator 5.5

Shoo-wee, I love Ulead.

ive started getting my head around photoshop now and its not bad, for some things PSP is much easier and quicker to do (for me atleast as i understand psp more) but then photoshop on the otherhand does lots of things that psp can only dream about

tony
10-13-2004, 10:40 AM
i know but you can get them cheaper :)

deadfingers
10-13-2004, 03:35 PM
yeah but photoshop is also much more advanced compared to PSP, sure maybe not for say 700 or so dollars but its worth more than PSP.

daboss
10-13-2004, 08:49 PM

Forge

daboss
10-13-2004, 11:18 PM
Forge, you got it wrong - Photoshop is the most expensive one around - though most would think it's the best too...

deadfingers
10-13-2004, 11:23 PM

Is software piracy rampant in the UK?

tony
10-14-2004, 10:09 AM
i wouldnt know :)

but there was a computer fair in manchester that got raided by the police and they got millions of £s worth of copied software

daboss
10-14-2004, 12:43 PM
LOL - looks like it's the same everywhere in the world...

tony
10-14-2004, 01:47 PM
true, the thing is paying all that money for something which they are earning a hell of a lot from sheer profit just seems wrong, if they reduced the price to be more realistic more people would buy it as they would rather have the originals than copies so in the long run it would probably benefit them the same but they wouldnt have to spend as much on "preventing" piracy

daboss

Tony, you'll learn in a couple of years time that corporates look at us individual users as spare cash - the big money is in licensing the software to businesses. The company I work for has close to 40000 employees worlwide - each one us has a PC/laptop and all the machines have MS Office installed. Businesses can afford to pay - so why redce prices?

Yeah, I guess individual users still count for something but we're not the main consideration :)

tony
10-14-2004, 02:40 PM
true, but they spend time changing software for home users (XP pro/home) not change as such just take away some of the things
