Australian spammer fined £2.2m
An Australian comapny and its director were found to have illegally sent 200m spam messages in the last 12 months since the Australian Spam Laws were introduced.

It's a shame this isnt world wide, my spam has increased 100 fold in the last 6 months despite filtering etc., Anyone notice that spam is sent as a text graphic now so that spam filters can't read it?

Oh so true Katra! I've give up using my University email account and moved to Gmail because it's gotten so bad. If Universitis with all their smart techs can't even stop the spam, you know it's gotten bad.

Got to love Gmail, somehow they are able to stay one step ahead of the spammers :)

Oh so true Katra! I've give up using my University email account and moved to Gmail because it's gotten so bad. If Universitis with all their smart techs can't even stop the spam, you know it's gotten bad.

True, but getting spam is just the way you use your email-address. Coding email-addresses works, like mine:


xPureNLxNOSPAM@....

Just add the "nospam" or CODE it as shown above and bots won't find your email-address ^^.

Oh I have coded, turned it upside down, inside out and still nothing works lol What does make it worse is Internet providers here sell email addresses to companies.
I think you are right Bryant, I am thinking of ditching all email addies,configuring the web site one to go into a black hole and just having the gmail one :P

I hardly get spam on my email-addresses... =O. Oh well, maybe my filters work perfect ^^.

Well if i get one more email offering me weightloss tablets, I'm going to thwack the person who sent it with a rather large stick. Spam is annoying to say the least.

Think yourself lucky Caz!!! I get ones for wieght loss and Viagra and I don't need either of them!!!! IF ya don't believe me ask Moddy ;) :D :p

LOL i get the viagra ones sometimes too, as well as ones for narcotic painkillers. im sick to the back teeth of spam to be honest. Even well known companies do it. For instance panda the company that does antivirus. I used their activescan once on a single file because I wasnt at home, and now my email addy keeps getting bombarded with mail telling me i need their antivirus solutions. No i dont, I have a perfectly good anti virus.

Not only do I get spam for viagria (which I DO NOT need), weight loss pills (could do with some of those :P) I get spam for stocks and shares...all sorts of financial information. Luckily gmail traps it in my junk folder and does not forward to my mail box.
