Why makes a great host?

I finally found a great host, HostGator because they're reliable. Up time is what I care about.

What makes a great host for you?

My webhost is siterollout.com and for me, they are a great host because there is very little downtime, and also because i get 10gig space and 50gig transfer a month for only £10 Uk money. Its also a reseller account, which means I can host as many of my sites on the same domain as I wish :D

Hmmm... I like a host that answers my support questions fast. Customer Service is important to me followed by a nice price.

standard rules when you want to buy anything:
1. it must be able to perform what is it supposed to perform - in this case, it must be able to host your website with good response time
2. value added features - for me, it's be being able to host multiple sites, cpanel and good stats
3. price - but this is usually a trade-off with the 2 items above

I've always wanted someone that I know I can count on. I like to get to know personally some of the staff and know that I can count on them to take care of me. Sometimes this aspect is lacking with a larger company so I tend to favor small business firms to medium-sized firms for the most part.

Obviously, if you're talking dedicated servers, you pretty much have to rely on larger DCs for reasons of cost which is a key part of the industry now.

Support, Price, and Uptime. That's all that makes any great host for me. If I pay $10.00 a month I want my site to be up at least 99% of the time and the 1% should be down for upgrades. Support I want to answer me within 2 hours of an questions. That's what makes a good webhost to me :)
